Wings & Prayers

While the species of these little masked and crested birds below is unknown to me the cedar waxwing (Thanks Steve!) I do know that they’ve been hanging around the house these last few days and enjoying the little black berry-type fruit that the large tree (species also unknown) in the front yard is currently bearing.

With our Canon Rebel digital and a 410-telephoto lens, I captured these two — part of a larger group of 30 or so gathered in a tree next door — just hanging out and keeping their attention westward towards the setting sun.

It’s amazing how the tiniest of creatures can effortlessly lift the heaviest of spirits.
