With tonight’s edition of our weekly Thursday evening downtowner ride, my odomoter clicked passed 1,000 miles for this year. No way will I top my record year of 2,644 registered in 2003 (which was made up mostly of all the training for and riding of my 475-mile trek from San Francisco to Santa Clarita), but it’s a marked improvement over 2004 and 2005, which were lean bike riding years to say the least.
So not only is it nice to hit four digits again after such a long drought, but to do it all from the single speed saddle of The Phoenix makes it even sweeter.
Now let’s see how much more I get by the year’s end. 2,000 might be a bit lofty a goal, but I’ll bet 1,600’s within my reach.
