Phalt Lines
Last night I rolled with Ride-Arc’s monthly ride as planned. It was a doozy full of a lot of miles and information. Left the house at 8:40 p.m. to meet my friends Steve and Alice for the cruise down to the gathering point inside the Arts District downtown and from there we set out with [...]

April’s Shaping Up To Be A Happening Month
Sure there are mandatory pre-vacation activites to do such as get the Canon Digital Rebel into Samy’s for a cleaning of the blech that’s been allowed to taint up its sensor and put splotches on my snaps for toooo long, and I’ve gotta get my tuxedo in to the tailors to be taken in since [...]

And Now For A Few Words About American Idol
I’ve given up hating on Sanjaya, the agonizingly underachieving American Idol contestant who for the last two weeks hasn’t even been among the bottom three votegetters and has remained firmly in the running while other much more talented singers have gotten the hook.
But I’m not resigned because I’ve come to accept his accendancy to the Idol throne and subsequent [...]

Might Have To Pull A Permit For That Job
Couple days ago I reported that Susan discovered a pair of house sparrows that have leased out the space inside one of the backyard paper lanterns for their spring home. Susan posted pix of the project in its infancy and yesterday I checked in to see what kind of progress they’ve been making.
I’d say pretty [...]

Cycles Of Violence
I posted info of this assault on a cyclist riding on Pico Boulevard on the Midnight Ridazz website (here), and it’s generated a good deal of discussion and opinion. The insane long-windedness of my thoughts on the matter precludes me from posting it anywhere but here after the jump.

If A Bike Lane Sucks In The City Does It Make Any Sound?
Cross-posted at Blogging.la
I wasn’t able to accompany my friend and fellow bike advocate Stephen Box (though his advocacy level is to the nth degree where as mine is merely to the third/fourth power) on his ride to the city’s bike advisory committee meeting last night, but fortunately this dude is everywhere and I was able to get a [...]

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BAY-BEE!!!!
I doubted I could top last year’s home decor/office flora extravaganza so I went an entirely different and decidedly (and maybe even less romantic) electronic route in the form of a new four-extension phone system to replace her tired solitary cordless (and make it less of a trek to chase away telemarketers), and a set [...]

Putting My Money Where My Heart Is
So I went a little bid crazy Sunday after biking to the benefit for Trader Joe’s employee Adam Authier who needs money to help combat the mounting medical bills for his recovery from the massive injuries he sustained from a hit-and-run accident while he was cycling home from work near the end of February.
Upon arrival [...]

Guests Of Honor
Susan scooped me on the backyard’s newest tenants, a mating pair of sparrows that are moving into a paper lantern dangling from the northeast corner of the house and busy constructing a nest within it.
Being made of the aforementioned paper, the lanterns (there’s another hung from the southeast corner) are actually in pretty sad shape. [...]

Putting The “LA” In England
My patient and beloved Susan can attest to the annoying habit I have of barking out “Hey I know where that is!” at the TV when we’re watching a show or a DVD and I recognize wherever in Los Angeles a scene’s been filmed.
Never moreso were the opportunities for Susan to deal with such disruptive behavior than when [...]
