Assuming The Positions

Meals are totally a routine around here. When Susan starts preparing them, first for the dogs, the cats show what creatures of habit they are. Bink stays on the bed looking longingly into the kitchen. Pumpkin hops up onto the breakfast table and waits patiently. Jigsaw and Pepper (pictured) grab their places on the counter and side by side eagerly watch Susan divide a can of Fancy Feast four ways as if they haven’t been fed for days.
The process repeats at dinner.

Oh, one can Fancy Feast 4 ways is never enough for one cat! I’m sure their idea of a proper breakfast is one can per cat but then two cans would be better.
I had to chuckle, reminded me of the day when I used to do the same (only 3 ways) but then Cricket, a cute young Russian Blue, came along and ate everyone’s food! Life was never the same and there was never any leftover Fancy Feast! Sadly lymphoma claimed her last week and now there is leftover Fancy Feast for the first time in over 7 years. Wish we could share it.

Sorry to read of Cricket’s passing Marilyn.
I think one reason we’ve gotten the four-way split to work is that we’ve never done it any other way. So the cats always know what they’re getting and waste no time digging in. Occasionally Pepper will raid Jiggy’s or Jiggy will leave some in his to go raid Bink’s but all’s fair in love and Savory Salmon.
