Let's do it Mark! I'm planning on a 6-6:30 a.m. departure Friday morning. If that's too early for you, Rollers and I are planning on meeting up at Washington and Figueroa somewhere around 9-9:30 a.m. for the rest of the ride west.

Rogelio and Gary, you guys could totally keep up with me as speed really isn't as important and as enjoying the company and taking in the scenery (or lack thereof as the case may be between Whittier and downtown). As a gauge, on the 70 mile ride I did in May my overall average speed (with stoplights and breaks) was 10 mph. My moving speed was 14 mph.

Having said that, this looks to be a pretty nicely pace-able ride comparitively what with the light traffic and relatively level elevation throughout. So I'd say an average moving speed of 15 mph might be where I'll be at.

So Rogelio and Gary, if you're game and schedules allow, shoot me an email at wildbellatgmaildotcom if you wanna join and we'll figure out where/when to meet up on the route.

And Mark, great minds once again think alike. I took a first look at Jefferson Blvd, but since I ride a stretch of that pretty much every workday -- and since in the Founding Fathers realm George is pretty much the big kahuna -- I opted for Washington.

PS. Let's not forget about Adams Boulevard, either. In fact another reason Washington Blvd appealed is because it intersects with Adams near Culver City as well as Lincoln on approach to Venice.

I am not sure if it would be any more scenic or safe, but how about considering Jefferson boulevard instead? He also was a founding father so he would meet that criteria and the route might be more pleasant.

I'd like to ride along part of the way, starting around downtown if I can keep up. Maybe part way back as well, I'll be taking red/blue lines to Washington from Burbank. What is your average speed (not counting stops for lights, etc.)?
I had wanted to ride Friday night, but the folks over at ride-arc talked me out of it with their last email. Earlier in the day sounds safer and saner.

Hey Will, I am almost tempted to try to ride with you, even if getting there I have to take public transit. Also I am more convinced than not that there's no way I could keep up although I do believe I can do it now as opposed to say two months ago. So... without worrying to commit to such a task and due to the fact I don't know what are the plans with the family I will say it would be nice and perhaps one day I take you up on such an offer.
