Timelapse videos of yesterday’s morning and evening commutes, the latter featuring an extended visit with me alongside the Ballona Creek Bikeway as I patch my fourth flat of the year and then have trouble getting the tube seated inside the tire. And both clips are entirely free of any negative bus interactions, FTW:

What type of setup do you use to get these videos? I am quite interested in finding something for myself.

Hi Will. It’s partly simple and partly complicated. The complicated part is mainly the handlebar mount, which as originally intended held a set of headlights. Since I no longer use those headlights, I drilled a hole through the flat part of the mount for a tripod mount-sized screw (previously used from a binocular tripod mount) to go through that I screw the camera onto until its snug and tight against the mount (usually with a washer and a rubber shim for support). The simple part is the camera, which is a straight out of the box Canon SD1000 that has a timelapse feature built into it (in which it snaps a pic every second and compiles it into a Quicktime file).
Since I mount the camera upside down beneath the handlebars I flip the image right-side up in Quicktime.
To get a better idea of what it looks like, here’s a picture on Flickr of the set-up installed on my bars:

Kudos on the publication of your photos. That’s impressive. BTW, I’ll be doing a post on Sunday about the First Congressional Church’s organ concert……………:)
