Recreationalizing

I was joined by my friend Manny (and his bad ass new Trek Madone roadbike) this morning for an early 20-mile route that started in Silver Lake, venturing up the Los Angeles River Bikeway and around Griffith Park to Forest Lawn Drive out to Olive in Burbank, then back along Riverside Drive to Victory and south through Griffith Park and onward back to Silver Lake.

Here’s the timelapse vid:

After saying sayonara to Manny, I found myself down the street in the company of my biking buds Erik Knutzen of Homegrown Evolution and Colin Bogart coordinating god of the Los Angeles County Bike Coalition’s annual River Ride. Both were on their bikes headed down to Seal Beach.

After that as I pulled in front of my house I found my neighbor Alex coming back from a ride of his own, and who I learned bike commutes out to Woodland Hills and back. That’s 52 miles roundtrip.

Damn.

All in a all a great day riding and bumping into people who share my love of it. Maybe they can join me for some of my future weekend rides scheduled for May:
