Winter Solstice

For about 20 nights, give or take, I’ve been finding excuses not to walk a few blocks west to Vendome Street with my tripod and DSLR camera with the zoom lens so as to point it back across the gap at our seasonally decorated house visible from that distant and different perspective, roughly a sixth of a mile away as the crow flies.

With tonight’s winter solstice I quit making excuses:

I also wandered up to an overlook on Westerly Terrace hoping for another angle, but only the house’s dormer lights were visible.

From here onward past the vernal equinox until the summer solstice in June the nights they start a-gettin’ shorter.
