In a city of ceaseless impermanence and reinvention, Schwinn Safety Cycle bikeshop is one of my touchstones. It was there long before I discovered it as a 12-year-old living in its vicinity and I hope it’s here long after I’m gone. And it wouldn’t hurt if they maintained their awesome neon sign a little better, but at least some of it shining bright is better than none.
