Coming home from an afternoon visit to my mom’s in Burbank I found this “growing” up out of the L.A. River Bikeway near its north entrance off Victory Boulevard in Griffith Park (click to enlarge):

Is that real? You pull on it? Are you sure it’s rooted in the pavement or someone places some twigs in there?
I have a fear of the LA River path. Those damn puncture weeds.

Hey there MA. It’s real enough foliage, but your second guess is the right one: someone put them there in a small crack in the bikeway.
About your militant (but entirely understandable) fear of the path’s puncture potential, we’ve got to get you passed that by getting you to come out and join the “Serenity Now” bike ride I’m planning for July 22.

Hey MA, put some Mr.Tuffys or similar tire liners in there while you’re at it and you won’t have to worry about flats (like ever)!
